Nature and the environment are themes that I gravitate to in my work as a designer and are a source of great inspiration. Specifically, the beauty industry and its impact on the environment has been a focus. Found in the ingredient lists of most beauty products, there are hundreds of chemicals, only a handful of which have been tested for toxicity. This poses a threat to human health due to the fact that most cosmetics are applied directly to the body on a daily basis. It also poses an environmental threat when these products are washed down the drain, ending up in oceans and damaging ecosystems. Upon learning about the lack of regulation and transparency in the ingredients of cosmetics I began making my own beauty products with simple, natural, and recognizable ingredients. In an effort to simplify a complex issue, 3IN1 is designed with a straightforward approach, revealing exactly what is in each product, how much, and its multiple uses.
